First time for everything

The STUG has been known for years as a community resource beyond compare: volunteer members refurbishing cast-off electronic devices for reuse by those who need to stay connected.

The Manatee-Sarasota community has been known, for years, to be utterly

generous by donating underused e-devices… especially laptops which may gave been stashed in a closet and almost forgotten, to help make life, schoolwork, and learning easier for their fellow citizens.

For the first time in a long time: the STUG Refurb Center is out of laptops to refurbish.

Can this be? Maybe you, or a friend or family member, or your business has put aside electronic gear which may be a bit outdated… but which our volunteer wizards can renew and send out for a second life. Our folks at the Center hate having to tell needy local charities

“Sorry, we can’t help because we’re plum out of equipment to give you.”

So look in those closets, those supply rooms, that cabinet over there… see what you have that’s not doing anyone any good, and contact STUG today. Keep the flow of giving going.

Turn your clutter into a gift to others. And keep our volunteers working!

Mike Hutchinson at the Refurb Center adds:

With a lot of help from the community we have usually been able to keep up with the demand. We are now at a point where we have more requests than computers available to be recycled. Our most important need, right now, is for Laptops, but any computer equipment is very much appreciated. Obviously, we prefer equipment that is working but we will take all computers. We can often get older computers, some that are 20 years old, up and running on Win10.
